NIFAAS stands as the national platform uniting professionals, researchers, farmer organizations, agribusinesses, development partners, and institutions committed to strengthening agricultural advisory and extension systems in Nigeria. Established in 2011, with its secretariat at the ICT Building, National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. NIFAAS was created to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in the delivery of agricultural advisory services. Our mission is to promote a responsive, demand-driven, and ICT-enabled agricultural advisory system that empowers farmers, improves productivity, and strengthens Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.
As Nigeria’s country forum under the continental platform of the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), NIFAAS plays a strategic role in linking national agricultural extension initiatives with broader African efforts to transform agriculture. Through this connection, the forum facilitates the sharing of best practices, policy dialogue, capacity development, and multi-stakeholder engagement across the continent. NIFAAS therefore serves as a bridge between Nigeria’s agricultural stakeholders and regional networks working toward resilient, knowledge-driven, and inclusive agricultural systems in Africa.
At NIFAAS, we believe that sustainable agricultural transformation begins with effective advisory systems that connect farmers to knowledge, innovation, markets, and opportunities. By leveraging partnerships, digital technologies, and collaborative learning, the forum promotes modern, farmer-centred advisory approaches that respond to the evolving needs of Nigeria’s agricultural sector. We invite stakeholders across Nigeria and Africa to join us in strengthening agricultural advisory services that drive food security, rural prosperity, and sustainable development across the continent.
