Southeast Zone Conducts Sensitization
Prof. Rachel Nwakwasi and Team Sensitize SE for NIFAAS.
Prof. Rachel Nwakwasi, South-East Zonal Coordinator, NIFAAS made presentations on NIFAAS activities during the Agri-Future Research and Innovation Exhibition at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in late April 2026. The presentations covered the organization’s objectives, mandate, and opportunities for collaboration. The event was supported by NIFAAS.
Following the sensitization and exhibition, a knowledge-sharing session was held where farmers actively engaged and sought practical solutions to their challenges. Imo State NIFAAS women farmers and youths participated. NIFAAS zonal members, and other stakeholders attended. The session concluded with a group photograph.

The next day, the Zonal Coordinator visited the Imo State NIFAAS women and youth at their demonstration farm. The visit highlighted the active participation of women and youth in watermelon cultivation using drip irrigation system and improved seeds, an initiative funded by NIFAAS South-East Zone to strengthen practical skills, promote sustainable farming, and empower youths and women farmers. This hands-on work shows how NIFAAS is translating policy into real outcomes for women and youths on the ground in the South East.
